Ahead of the National Vietnam War Veterans Day, a 50th-anniversary remembrance will be held this weekend in Springfield, Virginia.
The very last American troop departed from Vietnam on March 29, 1973. Some of those local heroes are being honored in a special way at the American Legion Post 176.

“Even though the war is over and it’s been 50 years, For some of our veterans it’s never going to be. We always remember them and appreciate their service,” said Commander Kevin Gaddis with the American Legion.
The event starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Mission BBQ will be providing food. It is open to the public.
