Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the United Arab Emirates to support Vietnam to build an international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City, as both countries agreed to expand economic and trade cooperation.

During a meeting with vice president Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Saturday, Chinh called on the UAE to support Vietnam in developing smart cities, renewable energy projects and the Halal industry.

Vietnam hoped the UAE will soon establish a joint working group in the fields of economics and investment.

The UAE vice president welcomed Chinh’s proposal, saying he would soon send a delegation to Vietnam to survey the market and exchange specific implementation plans.

The UAE considers Vietnam a market of high potential, especially in renewable energy, digital transformation, infrastructure, logistics, seaports and data centers.

Sheikh expressed his hopes to receive more Vietnamese workers to work in the UAE, saying it would support Vietnam in vocational training for workers.

Both sides agreed to promote aviation cooperation and considered increasing the frequency of flights between the two nations to attract tourists.

They also agreed to promote negotiations and soon sign the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement to expand economic and trade cooperation.
