Vietnam’s National Assembly has approved a ban on e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and other harmful substances starting in 2025. The move is aimed at protecting public health and ensuring social safety.
The ban was included in a resolution passed during the Assembly’s eighth session, which lasted 29.5 days. The government has been tasked with enforcing the ban and raising awareness, particularly among young people, about the risks of these products.
Lawmakers voiced concerns about the rise in e-cigarette use among youth and the serious health dangers. Reports also noted that these products are too easily accessible.
The National Assembly also called for stronger public education on the risks of alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, and addictive substances to protect public health.
In addition, the Assembly urged the government to implement measures to control gold speculation and stabilize the gold market to protect the nation’s economic stability.
